Patrick Nix to be next football coach at Pinson Valley

Patrick Nix is leaving Scottsboro to be the next football coach at Pinson Valley High School. was the first to report the story of the former Auburn quarterback and Miami offensive coordinator new job. Nix's potential hire go before the Jefferson County Board of Education on Thursday night. The BOE is expected to approve the hire.

Nix is 28-18 in four seasons as the football coach at Scottsboro. In 2016, the Wildcats finished 12-1 and reached the quarterfinals of the Class 5A playoffs.

Nix was a two-year starter at quarterback for Auburn (1994-95), finishing with almost five thousand yards passing and 31 touchdowns. He's been a college football assistant coach at Jacksonville (1996-98) State and Samford (2001), and served as offensive coordinator at Georgia Tech (2004-06) and Miami (2007-08).

Pinson Valley competes in Alabama's Class 6A. The Indians have reached the playoffs in seven of the last eight years but never advanced past the second round.
