Two players with Cullman connections go on day 2 of MLB Draft

Porcello led the majors with 22 wins, and beat out Detroit's Justin Verlander and Cleveland's Corey Kluber in results announced Wednesday.

On Day 2 of the Major League Baseball Draft, a couple of players with Cullman High School connections were drafted.

Jacob Heatherly, a lefthanded pitcher who just wrapped up his career with the Bearcats, was taken by the Cincinnati Reds. He was the 2nd pick in Round 3, the 77th overall pick. Heatherly throws four pitches for strikes-a fastball, curveball, slider and change-up.

Also going in round 3 was former Cullman Bearcat Keegan Thompson. Thompson was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. Thompson just finished up his redshirt junior year at Auburn. He went 7-4 in 15 starts. He has the option to return to Auburn next year for his senior season.
