UMS-Wright takes down Fayette County in 4A Championship
In the first ever AHSAA championship game to be played in the snow, the UMS-Wright Bulldogs beat Fayette County 21-7 to claim the 4A State Championship.
Sophomore running back Symon Smith was the star of the game and voted MVP.
Smith ran for 200 yards on 35 carries and scored two touchdowns, including a 55-yarder that gave UMS-Wright a 21-0 lead in the 2nd quarter.
The Bulldog defense was also a factor, forcing four Fayette County turnovers. It’s the seventh state championship in the history of the school. UMS-Wright finishes 13-2. Fayette County finishes 12-3.
