Barons' Michael Kopech honored for All-Star experience
PENSACOLA, Fla. —
Southern League baseball holds it's annual All-Star game this week, and the Barons Michael Kopech and Jordan Guerrero are getting the star treatment.
Both Birmingham pitchers are on the South roster for Tuesday's all-star game.
Kopech is living up to the hype that accompanied acquisition. The 21-year old flame throwing pitcher was one of a host of prospects picked up by the Chicago White Sox in exchange for all-star pitcher Chris Sale.
Kopech has 86 strikeouts in 66 innings pitched this season.
"I'm still extremely honored by it to be honest. We've got a great group of guys here," Kopech said about the all-star experience. "You look around, I've struggled with a lot of these guys here, so I'm hoping to go out and compete and have fun at the same time."
