Kopech sharp as Barons beat Chattanooga
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Pitcher Michael Kopech struck out 10 and allowed just an unearned run as Birmingham beat Chattanooga 2-1 on Wednesday.
Kopech (4-2) worked into the fifth inning before the Barons went to the bullpen. He threw over 100 pitches (104) for his second straight start.
The Barons scored twice in the 4th inning. Trailing 1-0, Nick Basto crushed a home run to center field that travelled 405 feet. Cameron Seitzer followed with a double to right that the Lookouts outfielder misplayed.
Seitzer scored on Mason Robbins 2-out single to give the Barons the 2-1 lead.
