UAB offense shines in spring game

A record crowd of 7,822 attended UAB's Spring Game at Legion Field on Saturday (

UAB's offense put on a show for the fans in the Spring Game, erupting for five touchdowns in the first quarter alone.

The "Green" team in the Green and Gold Game, which consists of the players currently working with the first and second team groups in practice, led 28-7 after the first quarter. Green finished seven touchdowns in a 49-7 Spring Game win.

Running backs Donnie Lee (two touchdowns) and James Noble both rushed for touchdowns. Quarterbacks A.J. Erdely (7-10, 108 yards, TD) and Tyler Johnston (8-12, 161 yards, TD) both threw touchdown passes.

“It goes without saying what a great and emotional feeling it was to get off that bus and see the unbelievable crowd,” head coach Bill Clark said. “It was 11:00 a.m. on a Saturday in April, for our fans, alumni, recruits and former players to be out here it was really amazing. I thought we had a great crowd with good energy and it was good to get the band and cheerleaders back.”
