Gadsden man charged with kidnapping and assault of a juvenile

A Gadsden man faces criminal charges after investigators said he took the law into his own hands.Etowah County deputies arrested 34-year-old James Franklin Woods for assault, kidnapping, and menacing.Investigators said Woods tracked down a 16-year-old boy he believed broke into his house.{} The victim's girlfriend told deputies she and her boyfriend were in her car near the intersection of Pulltight Road and US Highway 411 when Woods showed up and pointed a gun at the boy."We have an adult male here who took matters into his own hands.{} Pointed a gun at a juvenile, and that's not the way any situation should be handled," public information officer Natalie Barton said.She said Woods forced the teen into his car, and took him back to the house in the Coates Bend community.{} The victim's girlfriend called 911, and deputies went to Woods's home.{} Investigators said said Woods hit the teenager several times before deputies took him into custody."When you think someone may be a suspect in a crime, if you know of any information, call 911," Barton said."Call your local law enforcement agency and let the deputies--those who are trained--handle the situation so that you don't end up being behind bars."The victim's injuries were not life threateningWoods is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $51,500.00 bond.{}
