Alabama, Oregon basketball to play in Birmingham in 2015

Alabama and Oregon will play basketball in Birmingham this December.

The University of Alabama{}announced that it's game with Oregon will be at Legacy Arena on Dec. 21. It will be the Tide's first game in Birmingham since 2011.

"We are looking forward to playing a quality team such as Oregon, but we are even more thrilled for the opportunity to play in front of our fans in Birmingham at Legacy Arena," Alabama coach Avery Johnson said. "This is something that will be exciting for the University of Alabama fan base, our players and our staff. It's been five years since an Alabama men's basketball team has played in Birmingham, so this is something we hope to continue to do on a yearly basis."

Oregon has reached the NCAA tournament the last three years, advancing to the Round of 32 twice and reaching the Sweet 16 in 2013.

Alabama's announcement means that the Tide and the Auburn Tigers will play neutral site games in Birmingham over{}the next two years. In May, Auburn announced that it will play Middle Tennessee at Legacy Arena in 2016.
