Jasper First Nazarene: Lightning to blame for fire, church considered total loss (photos)

Flames erupt from Jasper First Church of Nazarene Friday night.

Firefighters Friday night battled a massive blaze at the Jasper First Church of the Nazarene.

Around 7 p.m., flames and smoke could be seen billowing from the roof of the church, which was built in 1972. It's located at 400 14th Avenue West.ABC 33/40 reporter Sarah Snyder has learned that no one was injured in the fire and insurance is expected to cover the rebuilding costs.

First Nazarene Pastor Greg Story told us the church will hold Sunday services in it's Family Life Center across the street.{}

The church posted the following message on its Face book page tonight:

"Everyone please be in prayer for our church body. The main church building was struck by lightning and will be a total loss. We will hold services this Sunday in the Family Life Center. Please pray for Jeremy, Matt, the church board, and our church families as we move forward. God is good. He makes all things new."
