An Alabama State Trooper fatally shot a woman in Chilton County around 8 p.m. Wednesday.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency says it started when a man approached a trooper stationed at a construction zone on Interstate 65 near mile mark 238 in Shelby County.
According to the ALEA, the man told the trooper that his wife threatened to shoot him. The trooper attempted to stop the vehicle in question, but the driver refused to stop.
Several law enforcement agencies chased the car and spike strips were used to stop the vehicle on the off ramp at exit 212. After a standoff, ALEA says the woman fired at officers, who returned fire, fatally striking the woman.
The State Bureau of Investigation is looking into the shooting. {}
