Congress passed a bill{} to increase the government's control over compounding pharmacies{}{}{}{} These pharmacies tailor-mix drugs for individual patients. {}{}{}{}{} Experts say it will help improve drug safety.{}{}{}{} The bill does not give the Food and Drug Administration complete authority over compounding shops, but provides significant safeguards.{}{}{}{} Efforts for the bill began shortly after tainted injectable drugs from a compounding pharmacy in Massachusetts caused a meningitis outbreak that killed 64 people across the U.S. just over a year ago.

{}{} The bill passed in Congress on Monday.{}{} President Barack Obama is expected to sign the bill into law.
