Ex-Cooper Green administrator considering guilty plea on child porn charges

FILE - Marc Sussman outside Cooper Green Mercy Health Services Aug. 21, 2018 (abc3340.com)

A former Cooper Green administrator who was indicted on child porn possession charges is considering a guilty plea.

That’s according to Jefferson County prosecutors.

Ex-Cooper Green administrator Marc Sussman, who handled “special administrative projects” at the facility, was the subject of a recent I-Team investigation.

Sussman is mulling over what’s called a “blind plea.”

That’s a guilty plea without a set sentence. He would literally be throwing himself at the mercy of the court.

Sussman was in Jefferson County criminal court today. Then, he bolted down a stairway to avoid our questions.

Sussman was indicted on six counts of possession of child pornography.

He remained on the job at the taxpayer-funded Cooper Green Mercy Health Services for 15 months following his arrest.

He retired during our I-Team investigation. That’s after we started asking questions about why he was allowed to stay on the job for so long despite those allegations.

If Sussman agrees to the blind plea, a Jefferson County judge would set the sentence.

That could mean one to 10 years behind bars.

Or, Sussman could decide to go to trial and take his chances.

Sussman’s lawyer isn’t commenting. But, he told us earlier, that his client should be presumed innocent.

There’s no timeline on when Sussman will make his decision.
