1 in custody following Mountain Brook police chase

MOUNTAIN BROOK, Ala. — UPDATE:

Mountain Brook Police have identified the suspect as 24-year-old Eric McAlpine.

McAlpine is charged with receiving stolen property, certain persons forbidden to possess a pistol, unlawful possession of controlled substance and attempting to elude.

He is being held on $22,800 bond.

One suspect is in custody following a police chase that began in Mountain Brook.

The chase began on Montclair heading towards Eastwood after the suspect took off at high speed. The suspect's vehicle, which was reported stolen out of Irondale, left the roadway on Montclair between Cresthill Rd. and Hoadley Drive and a struck a pole. The car crossed traffic, hit a curb and eventually flipped onto its side.

The suspect ran from the scene but was taken into custody shortly after the crash. Two handguns were recovered from the vehicle.

The identity of the suspect is not being released at this time.
