12-year-old boy killed in accidental shooting in west Birmingham

A 12-year-old boy died after accidentally shooting himself in the Ensley neighborhood, according to the Birmingham Police Department.

The boy was later identified asJamycah Ramone Frazier-Turner.

The department has confirmed the Frazier-Turner was shot in the 1300 block of Pike Road just off Interstate 20 in west Birmingham.

Police said the boy was injured when he was handling a gun and accidentally fired the weapon. He was taken to Children's Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Police said the child was in the neighborhood visiting friends and family when the boy was shot.
