BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — An arrest was made Monday in connection to the fatal shooting of a Birmingham man last week.
The Birmingham Police Department said 25-year-old Jamarian Carpenter was charged with capital murder in connection with the death of 30-year-old Devarta Thomas.
Police said Thomas was found shot and killed on Monday, March 20 in the 300 Block of 74th Street North.

Carpenter was arrested by the Birmingham Police Department’s Crime Reduction Team and is in the custody of the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
Police said the capital murder offense stems from the fact detectives believe Thomas was inside of a vehicle when he was shot.
