BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — One person was found dead inside a burning house in Birmingham Monday evening.
Crews were called to the 4000 block of Old Lewisburg Road around 7:00 p.m. for a house fire. After the fire was put out, a body was found inside.

The Birmingham Police Department said the death is being investigated and falls under "suspicious circumstances."
Tuesday afternoon, police said the death would be investigated as a homicide after an autopsy revealed the person had been shot.
Police said the home appeared to be abandoned, but detectives are working to learn when the last time the home was occupied.
The cause of the fire is undetermined.
