Downtown Birmingham lost a treasured mural Tuesday.

If you're from the Birmingham area, there's a good chance you've either seen or snapped a photo at the 'angel wings' mural in front of Avondale's MELT.

The Eason family commissioned the artist collective Redpath Creative to create the Birmingham-famous mural as a visual representation of MELT's contribution to the community. It took days for artists to complete the piece.

"They were a beautiful symbol of hope, love, and unity," MELT Birmingham wrote on Facebook Wednesday evening.

MELT is offering a cash reward for information on the person responsible.

You can contact MELT on Facebook or by calling (205) 917-5000.
