ETOWAH COUNTY, Ala. — An Anniston man is in custody and charges are pending for his role in the death of a 22-year-old Attalla woman, according to the Etowah County Sheriff's Office.
Authorities say 23-year-old Khalil Davadra Smith is accused of shooting Cheyenne Humphries, 22, and Brandon Gipson, 30, in Attalla Wednesday night. A 911 call around midnight informed authorities there was an altercation between two men and shots were fired.
Humphries died from her injuries and will be transported to Huntsville for autopsy and Gipson was transported to a local hospital. His condition is unknown.
Smith was taken into custody in East Gadsden following a traffic stop by Gadsden Police.
Deputies continue to investigate.
