Inmate recaptured in Texas following escape from Decatur work release

UPDATE 8/18 (4:30 p.m.):

According to ADOC, Parker was recaptured in Refugio, Texas after two days on the run from law enforcement.

Around midnight, Refugio Police took Parker into custody without incident at a traffic stop.

Parker is serving a 17-year sentence on a 2011 1st degree robbery conviction in Baldwin County, but will face additional charges for the escape.


Alabama Law Enforcement and Department of Correction (ADOC) officials are searching for an escaped inmate from a Decatur work release center.

Officials say Michael Parker, 40, was reported missing by Correction Officers at approximately 1:50 a.m on Sunday, August 6th.

Parker was last seen wearing a gray and green baseball hat, a blue tee shirt with white lettering, blue jeans, and black and red tennis shoes.

Parker is described as a white male, 6'2 and weighing around 244 lbs.
