Baby boy drowns in bath tub near Tarrant
Tarrant, Ala —
Update: The baby has been identified as Dezmend Cotton.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office is conducting a death investigation for a five month old baby boy after responding to a medical emergency call in the 100 block of Hickory Grove Drive near Tarrant on Sunday night around 8:30.
Paramedics found the baby unresponsive and transported him to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The early investigation findings reveal the infant's father placed him in the tub and left the room. When he returned, the child was not breathing.
Randy Christian, Chief Deputy of the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, says, "I can’t imagine how hard this is going to be on that child’s family. This will be heart wrenching for all involved. God be with them."
