Birmingham Fire responds to car fire in Callahan Eye Hospital parking deck

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Birmingham Fire and Rescue is looking into a car fire at the Callahan Eye Hospital parking deck on University Boulevard.

The fire started just before 6 a.m. Thursday. Fire crews were able to put the fire out quickly. The hospital did have to be evacuated for a short time. But operations are back normal. The deck will remain closed for the majority of Thursday.

Because of the deck closures, morning clinics have been canceled. Patients affected are urged to call 205-325-8610 to reschedule. Afternoon clinics are expected as normal. Individual patients need to call their doctors. The surgery schedule will continue as normal, but patients should expect delays.
