Birmingham Fire-Rescue battled an overnight fire for a second time at an abandoned house on 59th Place South.
Crews arrived on scene around 2:30 a.m. and remained until 5:00 a.m. to make sure the fires did not reignite. "It's a wood-frame structure house. It's been here for several, it's been vacant for a couple years. Vagrants have went in and kind of torn it up and that's how come it went so fast," said Battalion Chief Thomas White.
The chief believes the fire started in the chimney before reaching the attic.
