Veterans in Birmingham had a chance to share their concerns with the VA Medical Care System in person Tuesday.

The Birmingham VA Health Care System hosted a town hall meeting to hear questions and concerns from the veterans they serve.

A lot of the questions asked by the veterans after conclusion of the meeting were based on personal instances as a patient.

There were also questions regarding construction outside of the hospital, parking issues and customer service complaints.

All of those concerns or questions were addressed by an official during the meeting, or the veteran was directed to speak with a patient advocate one on one.

"If people don't have that internal courage to share that information with us, it doesn't allow us to make improvements and do things better," said Cory Hawthorne. "So, I applaud those who share those things with us so we can take a look internally and make things right. We want things to be right for the veteran and their family."

Those who were unable to attend the townhall meeting and have questions or concerns are urged to visit the VA website.

If you have questions beyond what is offered there, they say the best thing is visit the VA medical center and meet with a patient advocate.
