Colonial Pipeline is currently investigating the source of a gasoline leak near the intersection of County Road 91, Coalmont Road, and Lindsey Road in a remote area of Shelby County.

According to Bill Berry of Colonial Pipeline, they are currently in investigation and repair mode. The nearest resident is over 3 miles away from the leak, and is not in danger.

Colonial employees and contractors are working in tandem with the EPA, Shelby County EMA, Helena FD, Pelham FD, County 17 Volunteer FD and Cahaba Riverkeeper.

Two pipelines in the area were initially shut down during the investigation, but one has resumed operations after it was determined to not be involved in the incident.

Crews working overnight to recover gasoline that leaked into a pond on the site will continue clean-up efforts throughout the weekend.

Coalmont Road between County Road 270 and the Wildlife Management Area Firing Range in Shelby County is being used to transport equipment associated with the response.

This section of Coalmont Road is subject to restricted access.
