An early morning crash shut down interstate 1-20 and sent one man to the hospital.

Around 12:30 a.m. a pickup trick hit the inside barrier and a tractor trailer jackknifed to avoid it. The tractor-trailer landed on its side, closing the east-bound lanes of I-20 near mile marker 147.

As of 2:45 a.m. the two left lanes have been reopened. Officials may have to close east bound lanes again as they prepare to flip the tractor-trailer upright.

We spoke with the public information officer Steve Smith, who tells us the driver of the pick-up was air-lifted to UAB Hospital. The pick-up driver is expected to be okay.
