Hwy 431 in Wedowee reopened after chemical fire at American Steeples

Highway 431 has reopened in Wedowee following a chemical fire at American Steeples.

The Randolph County Sheriff's Office confirms Highway 431 is completely blocked after an emergency incident at American Steeples in Wedowee.
The sheriff's office says several explosions and a chemical fire happened in the area. Northbound drivers are advised to take County Road 33 and come back on 431 by County Road 15.
ALEA says everyone did make it out of the building.
The sheriff's office says it is "a very serious situation with the chemicals in this area."
An eye witness said the incident began around 10 a.m. and several fire departments are on the scene.
