20 units lost in Homewood apartment fire

HOMEWOOD, Ala. — Firefighters worked to extinguish flames at an apartment complex in Homewood on Wednesday.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation, but Homewood Fire Department does not suspect foul play.

The fire broke out at The Park at Buckingham Apartment Homes around 9:15 a.m. and destroyed 20 units. Firefighters on scene say the complex did not have a sprinkler system.

No residents were injured. One firefighter did sustain a minor injury.
