University of Alabama freshman, Paul Mathews is trading in his swimsuit for a microphone.

Mathews is a member of the University of Alabama swimming and diving team. On Saturday, he will be singing the national anthem at the NCAA men's basketball Final Four game between the University of Alabama and the University of Connecticut.

His passion for diving started in high school, but singing has been with him much longer.

“I have been doing music my whole life. Before I dove, all I did was music," said Mathews.

63,000 people are expected to fill the stadium, but millions of people will be watching across the country.

Until now, Mathews' largest audiences were tied to performing at the college baseball world series and Carnegie Hall.

“If I have the opportunity to do so I love to take advantage of it just because to be able to share music with the world is a gift I have been given by God," said Mathews.

Now as a student athlete at the University of Alabama, Mathews would believe this performance will be special.

"To be a student and bleed crimson, I am really excited to be a part of that atmosphere," said Mathews.
