Gadsden man arrested for robbing convenience store, firing gun inside building

On November 22nd, 2017, a store clerk told the Gadsden Police Department that a man entered the store and demanded money while showing a gun. As the man was leaving the store, he fired one shot, hitting a glass cooler door.

During the investigation, a suspect was developed, and on December 4, 2017, 22-year-old Marqualin Deshun Sumpter was arrested and charged with robbery 1st degree and discharging a firearm into an occupied building.

Sumpter is currently being held in the Etowah County Detention Center, with bonds totaling $75,000.00 cash.
