Gas station catches fire

Brighton firefighters investigate the cause of gas station fire

Fire officials in Jefferson County are working to determine the cause of a fire at a gas station.

Brighton Fire Chief Antonio Marable says crews were called to Marathon on Hunstville Avenue around 11:00 p.m. Monday.

We're told there was a small fire in the back of the building.

Chief Marable says the building sustained moderate fire damage and considerable smoke and water damage.

Fire officials says nothing appears suspicious at this time.

Firefighters from Lipscomb and Bessemer assisted with the fire.
