Hall of Fame golfer, Birmingham native Hubert Green dies at 71
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Birmingham native and World Golf Hall Of Famer Hubert Green passed away Wednesday at the age of 71 after a lengthy battle with throat cancer.
Green won 19 times on the PGA Tour, including the 1977 US Open and 1985 PGA Championship. He also won four times on the PGA Tour Champions, including the 1998 Bruno’s Memorial Classic at Greystone, a course he helped design.
A memorial service for Hubert Green will be Saturday at Highlands United Methodist Church in Birmingham. Visitation will be from Noon to 2:00pm with the service immediately following.
