One dead after shooting in west Birmingham

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBMA) — According to the Birmingham Police Department, 52-year-old Eloy Sierra was found suffering from an apparent gunshot wound in an alleyway Friday night.

Police said officers responded to521 5th Street Thomas around 9:30 p.m. where the the victim was lying unresponsively.

Police said Birmingham Fire and Rescue personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

The preliminary investigation revealed the victim and an unknown suspect were involved in a verbal argument that led to the shooting, according to police.
