The Hoover Police Department has started an investigation after a 29-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a vehicle on I-459 Saturday night.
At 10:53 p.m., the Hoover 911 center received a call of a traffic crash involving a passenger car and a tractor/trailer on I-459 South near mile marker 14. The passenger car was stopped in a travel lane as a result of that crash and the driver, 29-year-old Khari Jamal Walker, was standing outside of the vehicle when another vehicle struck him.
Walker was taken to UAB Hospital where he was pronounced dead at 12:53 a.m. Sunday.

The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim remained on the scene.
Hoover Police Traffic Officers are investigating the circumstances behind both crashes.
