Jefferson County BOE calls for member's resignation following social media posts
JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. —
The Jefferson County Board of Education approved a resolution asking for member Donna Pike's resignation following controversial social media posts allegedly made by Pike.
An activist alerted the board of the posts during a June 12 school board meeting. Pike is accused of posting a photo of Valerie Jarret, a former advisor to President Obama, with a caption reading "No I'm not black. I'm Valerie Jarret and I'm Muslim born in Iran," among other posts.
Board President Oscar Mann says the resolution leaves the decision to Pike.
Pike was not present at the meeting.
Members that were in attendance were Oscar Mann, Ronnie Dixon and Dr. Martha Bouyer.
