BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Renowned civil rights activist Reverend Jesse Jackson will deliver the eulogy at the funeral of an Alabama man killed by police in a Thanksgiving night mall shooting. Rev. Jackson spoke at Aretha Franklin's funeral in August.
Emantic "EJ" Bradford Jr., 21, was fatally shot at the Riverchase Galleria Thanksgiving night by a police officer responding to reports of gunfire. Hoover Police officers had inaccurately identified Bradford as the original shooter, who remains at large. Bradford's 18-year-old friend and a 12-year-old girl were injured in the initial shooting.
City officials met with family members and apologized for their mistake on Wednesday afternoon.
Bradford's funeral is set for 10 a.m. Saturday at the 5,000-seat Boutwell Auditorium.
