Kareem McNeal: From Football to the Fight of His Life
Kareem McNeal was a standout player for the Crimson Tide. He was a member of Coach Gene Stallings' 1992 National Championship team. McNeal was looking forward to the possibility of the NFL draft, when he was involved in a serious auto accident just months before his senior season.
McNeal was ejected from the car upon impact, and even landed in a bed of rattlesnakes, where he lay until rescue workers arrived. Miraculously, he was not bitten by the snakes, but he did break his back, and was paralyzed from the waist down, dashing all hopes of an NFL career.
Now McNeal is using his tragedy to inspire hope and joy in others. In a special report, Kareem McNeal shares his powerful story with Brenda Ladun.
