BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — ABC 33/40 confirmed that Birmingham company, AMICO Security, has placed a bid to build the wall bordering U.S. and Mexico.
Above is a photo of what AMICO's proposal looks like. A spokesman for AMICO says that some of the administration's requirements for the wall are that it be no less than eighteen feet tall, not able to be climbed, and contain a thirty-minute "breach window."
AMICO describes its border system as "multi-layered," beginning with a high security physical barrier wall. The barrier will operate as a combination of radar, perimeter, anti-tunneling, and shaker wire systems - what AMICO is putting forth as a comprehensive border solution.
AMICO has worked with the U.S. Border Patrol before on a fence project that stretched more than fifty miles along the border in California and Arizona. If AMICO is awarded a significant amount of the project, it would mean at least 200 new jobs for Birmingham.
