Police are searching for suspects following an ATM theft at a Hoover Walgreens.

Hoover Police say at least two suspects stole an ATM at the Walgreens at Ross Bridge Parkway early Thursday morning. The ATM was loaded onto a red flat bed truck. When a Hoover officer attempted the stop the truck one of the suspects opened fire on the officer.

The truck was later found abandoned several miles away on Hwy 150 near the intersection of Pyne Drive. The suspect's vehicle was reported stolen out of Midfield in June.

Police have recovered the stolen ATM and no officers were injured.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Detective Drew Mims at 205-739-7274 or Crime Stoppers at (205) 254-7777.

CORRECTION: A previous version of this story said multiple suspects were in custody. As of 8:50 a.m., Hoover Police say no one is in custody.
