Suspect dead after shots fired during execution of search warrant in Cordova

WALKER COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — Officers with the Gardendale Police Department were involved in a fatal shooting Monday morning in Cordova.

According to a release from The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Gardendale officers were attempting to execute a search warrant near the 100 block of School Street when they encountered someone firing a weapon.

47-year-old Johnny Karris of Cordova was injured and died at the scene.

No officers were injured, and the investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is ongoing.
