Arrest made in fatal Fairfield shooting

JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — UPDATE Wed. Dec. 2 - According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's office, an arrest has been made in the shooting.

After gathering evidence and talking to witnesses, police said they have arrested 22 year oldDe’Andre Carrithers of Midfield.

Carrithers was charged with Capital Murder. Police added that he had a current outstanding warrant for Domestic Violence.

A bond has not yet been set for the Capital Murder charge.

ORIGINAL: A shooting in Fairfield has left one person dead, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

The shooting took place near the BP at EJ Oliver Blvd and Aaron Aronov Drive.

Authorities were called to the scene just after 10:00 Tuesday morning. When they arrived, they found a 21-year-old male who had been shot.

The victim was taken to the hospital where he later died.

There is one person in custody for questioning as the investigation continues.
