A DHR spokesman tells ABC 33/40 News that Danny Donaldson was a therapeutic foster parent who fostered through the United Methodist Children's Home. That Montgomery based agency released a statement today saying Donaldson passed all the necessary clearance and training to become a therapeutic foster parent. UMCH says it "has been dedicated to the highest standards in caring for vulnerable children, and will fully cooperate with all law enforcement in the investigation of Mr. Donaldson."

The spokesman also tells us Donaldson was approved in June 2018, two months prior to his arrest for child porn possession.

The Shelby County Sheriff's Office confirms a 9-year-old was removed by DHR from Donaldson's home yesterday.

Donaldson, 26, has been a teacher at Calera Elementary School since 2015 and was in his second year of teaching kindergarten at the time of his arrest. Donald is charged with 40 counts of child porn possession.

A Shelby County school spokesperson says counselors are on hand to work with students, parents and teachers at the Calera school. Roughly 20 people were seen on Wednesday. An experienced teacher was assigned to Donaldson's class while the system looks to hire a permanent teacher.

Donaldson has been booked into the Shelby County Jail on a $600,000 bond. Friday he will have what's called a 72 hour hearing. At that time, a court date will be set.
