Window shot in random gunfire. Jefferson says shots came from a dark colored sedan.

A Jefferson County family is counting their blessings tonight after someone fired multiple gunshots into their car. They woman and her three children all survived. It happened just after midnight at the intersection of Old Springville Road and Brewster Road. Lajonia Jefferson says she had just picked up her sister from work. She was stopped at a traffic light when a car pulled up behind her. Multiple shots were fired. Her 14 year old daughter was grazed in the gunfire. The child is reported to be fine after getting checked out at the hospital. Jefferson says she doesn't understand why someone would randomly target her family.

"The car just come up behind me and started shooting," says Jefferson. "We're ducking trying to stay down, and at the same time trying to see. But I couldn’t see because of the rain."

Jefferson did manage to make out a black four door sedan. The Jefferson County Sheriff's Department is investigating.
