The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff is reporting that the air show has been cancelled for Saturday due to the threat of severe weather.

The Tuscaloosa Regional Air Show will take off Saturday 'rain or shine' said organizers.

The show is expected to attract nearly 100,000 people between the Saturday and Sunday shows according to organizers. Rain is in the forecast for Saturday including the potential for severe weather beginning around 6:00 p.m.

"Obviously we hope for the best but we also plan for the worst. We also have a plan again to make sure everyone's safe and that everyone's able to see the performances that we are able to carry on with and things like that," said City of Tuscaloosa spokeswoman Michelle Smart.

Smart said many of the performers are able to preform in the rain although visibility could potentially become an issue for attendees. Tickets bought for Saturday will not be honored on Sunday according to organizers. Patrons will be allowed to bring small umbrellas onto the grounds.

To sign up for mobile updates to any potential changes to the program, organizers say text "AIRSHOW18" to 888777. Tickets are available online at or at the gate the day of the show.
