Vestavia teen arrested in connection with convenience store robbery

An 18-year-old Vestavia teen was arrested this week in connection with a convenience store robbery in Jefferson County.

On March 30, deputies responded to an early morning robbery on Cahaba River Road. Deputies say a male suspect entered the store and held the clerk at gunpoint while demanding money. The suspect left the store and was spotted getting to the passenger side of a waiting vehicle.

Investigators were able to use surveillance footage to obtain a description of the suspect and vehicle, which was broadcast out to law enforcement in the area. Sunday, Hoover Police pulled over a vehicle matching the description and detained the driver before calling sheriff's investigators.

According to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, Davis admitted to committing the robbery upon questioning. He told detectives he needed to money because he owed $2,000 on a drug debt.
