Florida official suspends weapon permits of alleged Capitol rioters

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WPEC) — Shortly after Tuesday's hearing on the Jan. 6 Capitol riot ended, Florida Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried suspended the concealed weapons permits of 22 Floridians who were allegedly involved.

Florida leads the nation in the number of Capitol rioters arrested with 55 current arrests, according to data gathered from the nonprofit security research group The Soufan Center. Texas is second with 44 arrests.

A significant number of arrests have come from extremist groups with a significant footprint in Florida, such as the Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys.
