Hoover, Vestavia Hills & Jefferson County voters to experience some precinct changes June5
Thousands of voters in Hoover, Vestavia Hills and unincorporated Jefferson County will go to a new precinct to cast their ballots in the June 5th Primary Election.
One major change is Hunter Street Church will no longer be a precinct.
8,000 voters were previously assigned to Hunters Street. In December, half of those voters moved to the Finley Center.
Now, the rest of voters who were assigned to Hunters Street will move to The Met. This will be a permanent change.
There will be other precinct changes just for Tuesday.
The 5,000 voters assigned to Metropolitan Church of God will go to Rocky Ridge Elementary School to vote on June 5.
Barry Stephenson at the Jefferson County Board of Registrar’s Office explains the reason for the changes.
“We’ve had a lot of changes since December- either places are no longer able to vote their or they’ve got a special event for tomorrow or in July such as VBS or a church event or a recreation event with the whole facility,” said Stephenson. “So we’ve notified every voter of the precincts affected. One of the biggest is Hunter’s Street."
You can check your precinct online before going to vote.
Polls will be open Tuesday from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
