GREENE COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — The body of a man was recovered from the Black Warrior River Sunday evening, after reports of a possible drowning, according to Greene County EMS.
Authorities said they were told a man went underwater while trying to cross the water with a small group of people near the A.I. Selden Dam off Lock 7 Road and did not resurface.

Greene County EMS began searching for the man with the help of the Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue Regional Dive Team.
TFR Battalion Chief Tim Shanahan said the man's body was recovered within four minutes in an area of the water that was around 40 feet wide and six feet deep.

Greene County EMS also requested an air medical unit and notified the ALEA Marine Patrol Division.
The man's identity was not released as of Sunday evening.
