In October, the Birmingham Water Works (BWW) took part in the fourth annual “Imagine a Day Without Water” initiative, a national day of awareness, education, and advocacy over the value of water.
Led by the Value of Water Campaign, hundreds of organizations across the country are raising awareness about the crucial need for investment in our nation’s water infrastructure to ensure that no American community is left without safe and reliable water.
To raise awareness of the necessity of having constant access to clean water, BWW challenged customers to go without water for an hour. The utility has also placed signs in parks and green spaces around Birmingham to remind citizens of water’s importance.
Below are some simple tips for everyday water use:
1. Don’t let the faucet run while brushing your teeth. Just wet your toothbrush and fill a small glass with water for rinsing out your mouth.
2. Limit showers to no more than five minutes.
3. Select the appropriate water level for the size of your load of laundry or dishes.
