Former Auburn basketball player and coach to appear in federal court
Chuck Person scored more points than any player in Auburn basketball history, but today he finds himself in a whole new ballgame.
Person is set to appear in a federal courtroom in New York, accused of accepting more than $90,000 in bribes.
The feds say Person took the money in exchange for steering recruits towards financial advisors and merchants.
The indictment of Person and other assistant coaches around the country launched an internal investigation into the Auburn basketball program.
According to a report by ESPN, head coach Bruce Pearl is not cooperating with that investigation. It is being conducted by the Birmingham law firm of Lightfoot, Franklin and White.
The firm has declined our request for comment. If convicted, Person faces up to 80 years in prison.
