Hewitt-Trussville WR Ja'Varrius Johnson commits to Auburn
TRUSSVILLE, Ala. —
Hewitt-Trussville's Ja'Varrius Johnson likes to work fast.
Last week, the rising senior caught the eye of Auburn football coaches when he ran a sub-4.5 second 40 yard dash at a football camp. Johnson moved just as fast when the Tigers offered him a scholarship, based on his fast '40'.
Johnson is 5-foot-10 and weighs 165 pounds. He's rated as a three-start prospect in the Class of 2019.
He attended St. Clair County High School last season and helped the Saints to the Class 5A semifinals. Johnson is one of four players on Hewitt-Trussville that is committed to an SEC school. He's also the fourth in-state prospect listed as part of Auburn's 2019 signing class, joining Pinson Valley quarterback Patrick Nix, Hoover wide receiver George Pickens and Saraland defensive back Cordale Flott.
